East London artist Stik to raise cash for charity through artwork auction

The official Hackney 2016 “Pride in London” banner designed by street artist Stik is to go under the hammer at auction house Christie’s to raise funds for a yet to be determined local lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender charity.

Hackney Council, which is managing the process to determine which organisation gets the money, says the piece could sell for tens of thousands of pounds.

The Town Hall is encouraging any organisation wanting to put in a bid for the money to submit an application as part of a process which will close on 22 February.

Grant bids should be “flexible in monetary scale as the art sale is yet to take place”, the council says.
