Hackney Council has said it welcomes an innovative new scheme being spearheaded by the Greater London Assembly aimed at making London more self-sufficient in terms of power generation.

As part of the so-called Energy for London scheme the Mayor of London’s office buys power from small scale generators owned by London boroughs and sells this to Transport for London and the Metropolitan Police.
