A Labour activist who has received thousands of pounds in rent from Hackney Council has won a seat in the fellow Labour-held borough of Enfield.

Councillor Haydar Ulus owns 411 Mare Street, home to council-funded social enterprise Hackney Heart.

Last month he was elected to represent Enfield’s Haselbury ward.

Hackney Council has said it was unaware of his political affiliation when it decided on the location for Hackney Heart.
