A newly launched website set up by mental health organisations in City and Hackney offers a “one-stop shop” of support for children, young people and parents.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Alliance site contains a wealth of information, including guides, videos and events, as well as links to specialist services across the borough.

The Alliance has also started a YouTube channel, where people will be able to find useful videos and webinars created by its members.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, the borough’s lead on children’s services and education, is encouraging young people to use the website.

Bramble, who as early as April was talking about how important mental health support will be to the country’s recovery from coronavirus, said: “We want young people across Hackney to know that if you are experiencing stress, anxiety or other mental health issues, there are services there to support you.

“You don’t need to be nervous when asking for help, as it’s important to take care of yourself and your wellbeing, and no problem is too small to get support and advice on.

“This new mental health website from the CAMHS Alliance is a one-stop shop for seeking mental health support, from helping you with common concerns to supporting you through longer term difficulties, there is something for everyone.”

Resources range from guides for children on starting secondary school, apps to help strengthen resilience and manage anxiety, leaflets on better sleep and coping with bereavement, to parenting programmes and cyber safety advice.

Deputy Mayor Bramble added: “It’s really important to look after your mental health, as it has a positive impact on your physical health, helps you with making decisions and how you can cope with stress and relate to other people in our lives like your friends and family.

“Even if you feel okay, it’s good to know where to go in times of stress, so please take a look at the CAMHS website.”
