Man charged with rape following attack on Amhurst Road

Police last week released an e-fit of a man they wanted to trace in connection to the rape

A man has been charged with the rape of a woman on Amhurst Road.

The suspect appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on 14 December and was charged with one count of rape.

A 30-year-old woman was attacked in the early hours of Friday 4 December as she walked along Amhurst Road. She was forced down a basement stairwell of a property and raped.

Detectives issued a computer generated image of the suspect in an appeal for information – but have not confirmed whether this appeal led to the arrest.

The Metropolitan Police await an update from court.
