Clissold Park’s popular skatepark is currently out of action due to the damage caused by two consecutive vandal attacks on the site.

Last Monday night rubbish bins were dumped in the Stoke Newington skate park and set on fire, in a repeat of a previous attack which took place at the end of May.

The burning bins have badly damaged the surfaces of the skate bowls, forcing the park to close while repairs take place.

The council and police investigating the vandalism are appealing for information, and they have asked the public to contact them if they witness any further incidents.

The council also called on residents to “love their parks and report vandalism”.

Cllr Jonathan McShane, Hackney council’s cabinet member for health, social care and culture said:

“We will continue to work closely with police to catch the vandals carrying out these disgraceful attacks on our much loved green spaces.

“The cost of cleaning up and repairs following the vandalism has to be met by the council at a time of unprecedented pressure on our budgets. If anyone has any information or witnesses other incidents they should contact the police immediately.”
