Hot Tub Cinema – ‘A wonderful way to celebrate the summer’

Hot Tub Cinema is taking place in Shoreditch until September, and the experience is pretty much what it purports to be: a wonderfully hedonistic outdoor experience on a rooftop, featuring cocktails and some choice films.

The only disappointment is the hot tubs are more like large paddling pools.

For £30 a head you should know what you’re letting yourself in for. Sitting in a tub watching classic films is definitely fun, but to pay so much and then to have to buy the themed cocktails and food on top of that seems like a splash in the face.

And if there are not six of your friends in the tub then more likely than not you’ll be grazing the leg of a total stranger, and the more you accidentally do it, the weirder the looks you get.

Saying that, the whole experience is intended to be somewhat debauched, and sitting in a tub on top of a tower watching The Italian Job was tremendous fun.

Hanging out trunk or bikini-clad and getting slowly more hammered and realizing you’ve missed the bit where he doesn’t just blow the bloody doors off is a wonderful way to celebrate the summer.
