Venton Meade, 28, of Clapton Common, Hackney, has been sentenced to three years in jail for stamping on a British Transport Police officer’s head.

Last month (17th August) Snaresbrook Crown Court court heard how, on Thursday, 4 August 2011, PC Jack Bower-Wilson was chasing a suspect close to Clapton station to make an arrest following an earlier incident in the booking hall.

A struggle ensued between PC Bower-Wilson and the suspect. Meade, who was driving through the area, stepped out of his car and attacked the police officer, landing two-footed on his head. He then kicked the officer in the face and stamped on his head a few times more.

He was caught following CCTV evidence which identified the vehicle registration plate as they were driving down Lea Bridge Road.

DC Rory Durant, the investigating officer, said: ““No officer should have to endure such a violent attack when they are simply carrying out their job.”
