Attention all filmmakers – win £1,000 in One Shot Movie competition

One Shot Movie competition

Three London-based movie lovers are offering all filmmakers the chance to win £1,000 and the title ‘Best One Shot Movie 2012’.

All you have to do is submit a live action, fictional, narrative-driven film no more than ten minutes in length and with no cuts whatsoever. No cuts and no magic tricks – just one continuous shot.

Competition co-founder Daniel James Palmer says: “Creating a story in one shot is a massive challenge and requires a great amount of skill and thought from the filmmaker. We’re really excited to see what people come up with and have already received some great entries.”

Applicants will be judged by Jane Giles, Head of Content at the British Film Institute;  Francine Stock, presenter of Radio 4’s The Film programme; Julien Planté, Artistic Director of Cinémoi; and British actress Jessica Raine, who is best known for playing the lead role of nurse Jenny Lee in the BBC1 drama series Call the Midwife.

Ten shortlisted films will be shown at the awards ceremony on 26 September at the Hackney Attic at Hackney PictureHouse. The winner will receive £1,000 and there are other prizes up for grabs as well, including edit time at top postproduction house, Prime Focus.

Submitted films can be any genre and shot on any format – from 35mm to iPhone. Just get your film in by 31 August. The ten shortlisted films will be announced on 14 September and the panel of judges will then decide the overall winner.
