Stokey Fashion Rocks! Charity Gala Night is in aid of charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Stoke Newington is rocking once again with the return of Stokey Fashion Rocks!, its popular Charity Gala Night in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer on Friday 27th November.

The brainchild of Rosanne of Rosa Lingerie, Stokey Fashion Rocks! promises to be an evening of fun-filled fashion entertainment.

Says Rosanne, “The first time I did this in November 2004, it started as a small show to promote a new range of lingerie I had just taken in.

“I decided we needed more than just the underwear to make it work and so spoke to a few other people. I then approached Hassan about using Abney Hall; he said if it was for charity he wouldn’t charge for using the hall. At that point the whole thing snowballed!

“The obvious charity was Breakthrough Breast Cancer, as we deal with the effects of breast cancer on a weekly basis with bra fittings and so forth.

“We decided to give goody bags to people who bought tickets, so they had something immediately for their money, and businesses who were not in the show could be involved. Contents of these bags are all donated from businesses locally and their suppliers and are worth about £30.

“I then wanted a small amount of catering that again grew in size, and five restaurants agreed to each supply a buffet for 40 which meant I could feed 200 people. The whole event turned into a huge Christmas party. We raised over £5,000 the first time, and just under this amount the second time.

“This is our third year; we are also making a calendar from the best 12 photos of the evening. These calendars will be on sale from mid-December, and we’ll be taking orders in advance. They cost £10 each and all of this goes to the charity as a number of businesses have sponsored a month each in order to cover printing costs.

“Raffle tickets are now on sale, so anyone who cannot come to the event can buy a raffle ticket or order a calendar. Tickets are £20 and worth every penny!”

Stoke Newington’s independent boutiques will be taking part in the seasonal fashion show which starts at 6pm. Some familiar locals will be taking to the runway to model some sensational looks.

Taking part in this years extravaganza are Androulla Fashions, Hub, Red, Ribbons and Taylor, Rosa, Sunstone and Beaucatcher.

Back by popular demand, the Stoke Newington Fire Service will be coming to the rescue once again as they fight their way up the runway.

The huge range of raffle prizes is topped with a Trek bike from Two Wheels Good and a year’s full membership to Sunstone Health Club.

Isla Traquair from Channel Five is the guest of honour this year and will be helping throughout the evening.

The price of the admission includes your choice from a feast of world cuisine courtesy of local restaurants, a cocktail and a generous goody bag – all donated from local businesses.

Stokey Fashion Rocks! starts 6pm Friday 27th November at Abney Hall, Stoke Newington Church Street.
