Mayor Philip Glanville was quizzed by Hackney residents last night at Hackney’s first Mayor’s Question Time.

The event at Hackney Town Hall was broadcast live on Facebook and is available to watch again on the video below.

Topics covered included housing, crime and anti-social behaviour, use of public green spaces, and plans to demolish Britannia Leisure Centre.

Questions were submitted in advance but the questioner could then follow up, and topics were opened to other questions from the council chamber.

Around 60 people attended the event, around half the number who requested a ticket, but were evenly balanced across age, class, gender, ethnicity and politics.

The event was chaired by Dave Hill, a former Guardian columnist and friend of the council, who addressed the Mayor as “Phil”.

Mayor Glanville also took questions on Twitter this morning for an hour.

Readers can respond to anything they hear in the video in the comments below.

Mayor Glanville is a mayor who ignores and plays down corruption within his own council – He doesn’t mind his staff deliberately abusing their office, destroying peoples lives, homes and environment. He even doesn’t mind his staff running smear campaigns against those who dare to expose his criminal officers. Ignoring corruption when it is staring you in the face makes one as guilty as those who commit it!
