Diane Abbott takes up shadow junior ministerial position

Diane Abbott, MP for Hackney North & Stoke Newington

Diane Abbott, MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, has taken up a shadow junior ministerial position for health today.

Diane, who was a candidate in the Labour leadership contest, said she was honoured to take up the role which will see her play a part in rebuilding the party alongside new leader Ed Miliband.

She said: “I am honoured to take up this position in the party and look forward to working alongside shadow health minister, John Healey. My mother was a nurse and I have always been outspoken about health issues as an MP.

“I am pleased to be able to work alongside our new leader to help him to carry out the vision of our party’s future, and I will continue to be a strong voice within the party and in opposition.”

Diane Abbott has her accolytes and I am certain that she deserves them. However, her overall public profile is deservedly sycophantic and hypocritical. Her appointment to an insignificant junior ministerial post is face -saving for both Ed Milliband and Ms. Abbott.

Diane is one of the most arrogant and narcissistic operators I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. She is devoid of self-awareness and the feelings of others. Her breath-taking rudeness is firmly etched in my brain. Had I not experienced her deliberate put-down at a conference some years ago, I would have taken the criticisms levelled against her in certain areas of the press with a pinch of salt.

The nasty comments about Diane Abbott are getting really boring. i am not a big fan of hers, but i think she deserves a chance. the stuff about her hypocrisy with regard to her son and school is really old – get over it everyone.

Insignificant? Public health? Think childhood immunisation, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, TB, people pissing in the street because there are no public lavatories … Ms Abbott has one of the most important jobs in the Opposition. With cuts to come, and public health always a soft option, the louder she shouts the better.

Wow! Jane Harrington describes a politician as being arrogant, narcissistic and rude! I’d like to know of any politician, particularly a female politician, who hasn’t (at some time) had to call upon those characteristics to survive within the political arena.

I wonder if this is the self-same Cllr (Mrs) Jane Harrington, the Conservative Party member representing the Castle Ward in Saffron Walden?

She describes Diane Abbott’s shadow ministerial position on health as being “insignificant”. Possibly this is because Cllr Mrs. Jane Harrington (if it is she) has experienced genuinely significant ministerial responsibility; she carries the unbearably heavy political burden of serving on Saffron Walden’s Planning and Road Traffic & Recreation[1] and Playing Fields Committees.

[1] Recreation? “Saffron Walden, meaning ‘male brothel’, ex.: ‘He was caught in a Saffron Walden, old man, covered in jam.'” Lawrence Durrell in Scobie’s Common Usage of his novel “Balthazar” (1958) and Blackadder sketch.

Im not anyone special, just a mum, like many other mums, from a comprehensive school background with no qualifications, and a millitary mam and dad.
I think diane is great, for the party, for the country, as a mum.
Long may she open her mouth and say what she thinks, keep offending them girl and one day we will see you at Ed’s side, when labour wins the next election.
