Civilian War Memorial in Abney Park Cemetery restored to former glory

Volunteers have successfully restored the Civilian War Memorial in Abney Park Cemetery, Stoke Newington, after the monument was found to be severely degraded.

Designed by famous architect Sir Reginald Blomfield, the memorial contains 371 names of people who died in both world wars.

The restoration work was led by Camilla Loewe, co-ordinator of Hackney based charity Timeline.
