Cazenove to elect new councillor in January following Caroline Woodley’s mayoral triumph

Voters will go to the polls yet again in one Hackney ward this November

Cazenove must elect a councillor to replace new mayor Caroline Woodley

Residents in Cazenove ward will go to the polls in January to elect a new councillor, the Town Hall has announced.

The by-election was triggered by former Cazenove representative Caroline Woodley’s election as mayor, which means she can no longer serve as a councillor.

Would-be candidates must deliver their nomination papers to the Town Hall by no later than 4pm on Tuesday 19 December 2023.

Residents have to apply to register to vote by midnight on Tuesday 2 January 2024. Applications can be submitted online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.

You should register to vote if you have:

  • turned 18 on or before Thursday 18 January 2024
  • never registered before
  • moved house recently – if you’re a student, make sure you’re registered at the correct address
  • recently changed your name

Anyone wanting to vote by post for the first time must apply by 5pm on Wednesday 3 January 2024, and those planning to vote by proxy should submit their application by 5pm on Wednesday 10 January 2024.
