Titbits – mediums and misspellings spook council

Titbits bird◆ Disbelief greeted the revelation a few years back that cops working on missing persons cases had been told they should not necessarily dismiss the input of people claiming to be psychics, occult practitioners or “witches”. So perhaps it should come as no surprise that, poring over council documents regarding crime, the Hackney Citizen has turned up an apparent reference to using clairvoyants to pinpoint potential gang members. “Early intervention, if identified and actioned through the most appropriate mediums, will have a strong impact on reducing or preventing gang membership,” the document states. The curse of typos!

◆ Spelling has never been the council’s forte. Bookseller Gary Moult recently took umbrage at its misspelling of Clapton’s Glyn Road. Meanwhile, Shakspeare Walk remains forever the appellation of the Stoke Newington street flanked by poetic counterparts Milton Grove and Wordsworth Road. The Citizen understands this is an intentional misspelling. However, last year ballot papers for postal votes were sent out late after “Conservative” was rendered “Conversative”.
