Titbits – Photo error, lèse-majesté and disunity on unions

Titbits

◆ Cash reaped annually from display advertising in Hackney Today is a fraction of the £516,000 made last year by Tower Hamlets Council from advertising in its now defunct weekly freesheet. But, while impoverished Tower Hamlets Council scrapped East End Life, wealthier Hackney Council claims its yearly £150,000 in ad income is critical. How bizarre.

◆ The Mayor was pictured wearing a Vote Labour rosette, “in error”, the council admits, in a recent Hackney Today issue – a breach of rules on political neutrality of council freesheets.

◆ Former Hackney Council PR wallah Gareth Jones tweeted to accuse us of lèse-majesté for intentionally crumpling up a copy of Hackney Today (we didn’t, for the record).

◆ Lastly, our two MPs appear not to be in unison on unions, with Diane Abbott defending industrial action, while Meg Hillier said unions were “shooting themselves in the foot” by disrupting train travel.
