Cyclist expected to make recovery after collision with car on Mare Street

A female cyclist who was fighting for her life after being hit by a car on Mare Street is now expected to make a recovery.

The 20-year-old suffered head injuries after colliding with the car in the early hours of Saturday morning (15 October).

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 4am and the busy road was closed for three hours between the junctions of Amhurst Road and Graham Road.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found the 20-year-old female cyclist with a head injury.

The driver stopped at the scene. They were not arrested and are assisting police with their enquiries.”

The cyclist was transported to an East London hospital and her condition is now “not thought to be life threatening or life changing”.
