Voters will go to the polls yet again in one Hackney ward this November

A by-election is to held next month in Hoxton West ward, after Philip Glanville stepped down as a councillor for that ward to take up the post of Mayor of Hackney.

The poll will take place on 3 November 2016.

All candidates must deliver their nomination papers to the Town Hall’s returning officer Tim Shields by 7 October.

To vote in this by-election, you need to be on the electoral register for Hoxton West ward.

Those eligible to vote in the by-election will receive a polling card in the weeks prior to the election.

You do not need to take your polling card to the polling station or show any proof of ID.

You will need to tell polling staff your name and address.

They will then cross your name off their list and give you a ballot paper.

The council published a notice of the election on its website along with a “notice of casual vacancy” in Hoxton West ward.

It states that “a casual vacancy exists in the office of borough councillor for the Hoxton West ward of the London Borough of Hackney”.

Philip Glanville received 69 per cent of the vote in the mayoral election on 15 September.
