Hackney-based artist Stik’s bespoke banner for this year’s London Pride event has gone on display at Hackney Museum.

The banner will be exhibited there until October before being auctioned off to help fund local LGBT+ projects.

The design features two stick figures holding hands against a rainbow backdrop.

Street artist Stik, whose murals often comment on issues of social justice, said: “This banner is a symbol of universal connection but the fact that two people holding hands can be seen as an act of defiance says that we have work to do as a society.

“Hackney Museum is helping give life to the banner beyond the pride parade and make real change in our borough and hopefully, eventually the world.”

The banner was manufactured by Flagmakers, who make flags for the Queen.
