Hackney Central by-election takes place 21 July following Sophie Linden’s resignation

The candidates for the by-election in Hackney Central ward on Thursday 21 July have been announced.

They are, in alphabetical order by surname:

• Sophie Conway, Labour party
• Russell French, Liberal Democrats
• Mustafa Korel, Independent
• Siobhan Mac Mahon, Green party
• Christopher Sills, Conservative party

Voting takes place on Thursday 21 July 2016 between 7am and 10pm.

The election follows the resignation of Sophie Linden, who has been appointed as London’s deputy mayor for policing and crime, after being nominated by Sadiq Khan, the capital’s new mayor.

To vote in this by-election, you need to be on the electoral register for Hackney Central ward.

You do not need to take your polling card to the polling station or show any proof of ID.

You will need to tell polling staff your name and address.

They will then cross your name off their list and give you a ballot paper.
