Two activists from Hackney who chained themselves to railings at Heathrow Airport in protest against proposals for a third runway have been found guilty of being unlawfully airside and aggravated trespass.

Graham Thompson, 42, of Durlston Road, E5 and Sheila Menon, 43, of Pellerin Road, Dalston – along with 11 other members of the Plane Stupid campaign group – were on Monday 25 January told to expect a prison sentence over their climate change demonstration at Heathrow last July.

All 13 defendants are due to be sentenced on 24 February.
