A 24 year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck on Christmas Day by a car in Stamford Hill.

Detectives are urging the driver, who did not stop at the scene, to contact them immediately.

Police were called to the Seven Sisters Road and Amhurst Park junction at 7pm last Friday, following reports of a car collision with a pedestrian.

London Ambulance Service took the victim to a central London hospital, where he remains in a life threatening condition.

The driver of the light coloured car failed to stop after the accident, continuing on eastbound towards Tottenham.

The site of the accident is the same junction where cyclist Stephanie Turner was in January killed in a lorry crash.

“We are studying CCTV footage and carrying out all appropriate checks on the car seen to be involved,” said Detective Sergeant Chris Osbourne from the Roads and Transport Policing Command.

“I am confident we will trace the driver but would urge them to contact police right away.”

Police are asking any witnesses or anyone with any information to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage on 0208 597 4874, or anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
