Hackney landlord Haydar Ulus to stand trial over assault charges

A Hackney landlord and Enfield councillor is facing trial later this year after being charged with assaulting another man.

Haydar Ulus, 34, has pleaded not guilty.

He is the landlord of 411 Mare Street, the former home of Hackney Heart community cafe, and a member of the Alevi Cultural Centre in Dalston.

Previously a Labour councillor, Mr Ulus has been suspended from the party whilst court proceedings are active.

He currently sits as an independent councillor for Haselbury Ward

Following the charges he was suspended from the Labour Party. While court proceedings are active sits as an independent councillor.

He will appear at Wood Green Crown Court in August 2015.
