A man has been taken to hospital after a partial collapse of a building in Dalston.

A construction worker, working on basement excavation project at a two storey semi-detached house on Malvern Road, was taken to hospital at 1.30pm this afternoon, police have confirmed.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “There was a partial collapse of a building on Malvern Road. A man believed to be working on the site was injured and taken to hospital.”

Planning permission was granted earlier this year for excavation work on the property, to enable the existing basement to be used as a habitable room.
