Inquest date set for investigation into death of Rifleman Phil Scott

Results of an Independent Police Complaints Commission probe into the death of a young soldier who lost his life in a motorbike crash on Kingsland Road will be revealed next month.

Rifleman Phil Scott, 23, died in the crash shortly after police in an unmarked car allegedly began pursuing him on 7 August last year.

His death will be the subject of an inquest due to take place at Poplar Coroner’s Court on 28 March.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission launched an investigation following the incident on 7 August last year.

An IPCC spokesperson said: “The situation is that our enquiries are complete and a report is being compiled.

“We will provide it to the coroner in advance of the inquest.”

Any publication of the IPCC’s report will take place after the inquest, they added.
