Star Wars auditions to come to Hackney?

Open auditions for a “major Disney” film will be held in Hackney, with speculation rife it is for roles in the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode VII film.

The casting notice, posted by UKopencall, states the nationwide search is to fill two lead roles – one female and one male.

Rachel, who is in her late teens, lost her parents when young and is described as being “street smart” and “able to take care of herself”.

Thomas is in his late teens or early 20s and “has grown up without a fathers influence” but is “smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed”.

Anyone thinking of auditioning for the roles must be “beautiful, smart and athletic”.

Although the film is not identified in the casting notice, the character descriptions closely resemble those from an earlier leaked document relating to Star Wars: Episode VII, according to the BBC.

Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the production company behind the Star Wars films, in 2012 for approximately $4 billion.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for a release in 2015.

The casting sessions will be held in Apiary Studios, 458 Hackney Road, E2 9EG on 23 and 24 of November 2013 between 10am and 2pm. Attendees must be over the age of 16 for the female role and over 18 for the male, and bring with them a headshot photograph
