Clapton marks the end of summer tomorrow, with a free two-part, one day music and food festival.

The festival includes live music, art events, children’s activities, as well as celebrations of Clapton’s finest food and drink.

The bash takes place in the St John-at-Hackney Church gardens, as well as local venues, cafes and pubs in the area, and is split into two sections of day and night events.

The day’s events are free and run from 11am to 6pm, with the night’s events starting at 6pm and coming to a close at 11pm, with admission priced at £4.

The daytime sees musical performances from acts such as Bronze Medalist, Samantha Whates, and the critically-acclaimed Lovers Electric, in addition to other local talent.

On the culinary side, there are appearances by Hackney’s Bel & Brisket, while the Five Points Brewery will be staging a mini beer festival.

The night section of Clapton festival is staged inside the St John-at-Hackney church, with DJ sets from Jet and Dan Sylvester.

This year’s festival is the first time it will take place as a one day event, with it previously having been a five day event.

Barney Thomas, Event Organiser for Clapton Festival, said: “The festival really concentrates on what Clapton has a lot of – good music and good food.

“In previous years the festival has been spread over five days in lots of different venues, but this year we just wanted to keep it simple.”
