Green-fingered residents are descending on the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden to learn about growing food and taste fresh produce.

The garden already serves teas made using herbs grown on site, but its general manager Marie Murray is now looking to expand on this range.

“Hopefully in the next few weeks we will have a bigger food offer, which will include salads and potentially vegetables from the garden,” she said.

Marie and her team of faithful gardeners grow fruit, vegetables and herbs in a wildlife and bee-friendly environment in the former railway land just off Dalston Lane.

“We employ people in the cafe who are interested in gardening,” added Marie.

“You have to know about the plants because we use the plants in the garden in the cafe as well.

“We want people in the very least who are interested in plants. You need to know your mint from your sage.”
