Hackney WickED, now into its sixth year, has launched a crowdfunding page ahead of the popular three day arts extravaganza taking place this month.

The aim is to raise £6,000 to go towards enhancing infrastructure of the festival, which showcases the “new blood of contemporary art,” along with an additional £1,500 to promote the arts sustainably throughout the year.

This year sees Hackney WickED Arts Festival return for a three-day programme, championing creativity through exhibitions, open studios, film, art fetes, music, workshops, artist talks, tours, critical debates and more. Hackney WickED

Director Anna Maloney said:  “The money raised through crowdfunding will help to strengthen the sustainability of Hackney WickED, allowing it to continue to evolve with the changing social and built environment whilst remaining a dynamic force for promoting local culture and community issues.

“The crowdfunding will help to inspire families, young children and students alike via free, interactive and inclusive creative arts experiences that they might not otherwise have been able to afford.”

The festival takes place at various venues from 16-18 August.
