Returning for a fifth edition on the bank holiday of Monday 6 May, Dalston’s annual multi-venue showcase Land of Kings prepares to make its first ventures outdoors.

Usually taking place across the area’s music venues and arts hubs, this year the festival kicks off at 2pm for an extended day-night programme, popping-up at a number of outdoor locations as well, including Dalston Roof Park, community garden Eastern Curve and in car parks around Dalston Junction.

Festival Director Nick Griffiths comments: “It’s great to have so many top venues to draw from in Dalston, but we’ve always looked to supplement them with spaces we produce, ones that are special to Land of Kings.  Working with the Council we’re really excited about this year’s new additions.”

The outdoor spaces will include live music stages, street food markets and cinema screenings.   Elsewhere punters can expect showcases by record labels Moshi Moshi, Week of Wonders, Five Easy Pieces and Brownswood, plus club nights from Durrr, Clash, To The Lazer Cave and A Love from Outer Space.

Live acts already announced include Darkstar, Chrome Hoof, Flako, New Young Pony Club and Great Waves, with DJ sets confirmed from the likes of Friendly Fires, Andrew Weatherall, Drums of Death and Dark Sky.

Elsewhere, the art and interactive line-up boasts House of Hot Breath, Hammer & Tongue and the Lost Picture Show.
