Tatty Devine opens its doors for London Jewellery Week

Between 11-17 June, Jewellery Week will celebrate London’s position in the world of jewellery design, production and retail.

The East End will play host to numerous events from Jewel East at Old Spitalfields Market to collection showcases on Columbia Road.

From 15 to 17 June, Old Spitalfields Market, one of London’s finest remaining Victorian market halls, will once again act as a ‘discovery zone’ for Jewellery Week.

Jewel East will include a host of jewellery-making workshops and demonstrations featuring London-based jewellery schools and designers. From contemporary design to costume and vintage jewellery, the event will also showcase small labels including Sagan jewellery and East End based Black Pearl.

Ellie Barnatt, Events Manager at Spitalfields, said: “The market is renowned for its history of nurturing new creative talent and we are delighted that this continues with Jewel East.”

Established Perspex pop jewellery label Tatty Devine will be opening their studio doors to the public on Saturday 16 June for a (now sold-out) Dinosaur Necklace Workshop in conjunction with Jewellery Week.

Jewel East will include a host of workshops featuring London-based jewellery schools and designers.

Hosted by Tatty Devine co-founder and designer Harriet Vine, participants in this workshop will learn the techniques behind Tatty Devine’s popular Dinosaur Necklace, made from 50 lasercut Perspex ‘bones’.

On Columbia Road, Simon Rees, jeweller of 25 years, will be showcasing the work of jewellers Vicky Davies and Anna Lovell at his shop NumberNinetyFour Columbia Road until 1 July.

Lovell’s retro inspired work in silver and beads will showcase alongside Vicky Davies’ antique inspired stacking heart rings and spinning orb pendants.

Contemporary jewellery show Treasure, taking place at Somerset House over the course of the week, will feature other East End talent including Hackney’s Linny McClarty, working with sustainably sourced materials to great effect, Malcolm Morris (Walthamstow) and Tina Lilenthal (Tower Hamlets).
