A teenager was stabbed outside Hackney Town Hall this morning on the last day of term for many pupils in the area.

The 15 year-old boy suffered a single stab wound shortly before 10:50am after trouble broke out on Reading Lane, between the Town Hall and the Library.

A police spokesman said: “The injuries are not life threatening.”

An air ambulance arrived at nearby London Fields, but the boy was taken away by paramedics to an east London hospital where he is thought to be in a stable condition.

A male has been arrested in relation to the incident and remains in custody.

It was not a single stab wound. The newspaper reported it wrong. It was multiple stab wounds close to his heart. He had emergency surgery yesterday and is now recovering. Don’t always believe what is reported in the papers. They do get it wrong.
