Clapton Festival 2011

Hot on the heels of the newly-revived Chatsworth Road Market, a two-day event this weekend will see Lower Clapton Road – from the Lea Bridge roundabout right down to Clapton Square – transformed into a community showcase of music, art, dancing, fancy dress, with live bands, and much more.

Over two action-packed days, children will be able to enjoy a huge variety of games and fancy dress in Clapton Square – (the theme is ‘storybook characters’ and the best costume wins a prize).  Adults can enjoy local live bands in the Square and an evening of classical music in  St John’s Church. The Round Chapel will play host to a reggae soundclash featuring Solution Sound, Gladdy Wax and Trevor Sax.

And don’t miss the Clapton Walk – an amazing dance performed up and down Lower Clapton Road by a core group of dancers from BSix Sixth Form College and Clapton Girls School and anybody else who wants to join in.

Exhibitions by local artists and photographers will be  displayed in several Lower Clapton Road shops – many local traders are excited to be supporting and taking part in our very first E5 festival.
