In the moment: music, raving and nightlife in Hackney

Patrick Vernon wants you to get your groove on

Patrick Vernon wants you to get your groove on

Are you an old raver, a young groover or – better still – a middle-aged music memory maker? If so, Hackney councillor Patrick Vernon needs you.

In two workshops at Hoxton Hall on Saturday 17 July, Patrick will explore musical legacy from the 1970s to the early 1990s, when Hackney had a fantastic club and music scene that’s continued steadily to this day.

So bring along your music, pictures and stories to share with others exactly what went down – the sounds, the venues, the vibes, and, of course, the fashions. Dig out those old records, CDs and tapes and tell him all about your raving days – what you danced to, where you danced, how, and who with.

And what about today? Let Patrick know how you rate the current music scene and how you think our musical lives have changed with new formats – from vinyl to cassettes, through mini-discs and CDs, to internet and iTunes.

Join him for a journey of musical discovery!
