Hackney Central ward by-election called

Hackney Town Hall

The Hackney Central by-election takes place 21 July following Sophie Linden’s resignation

A by-election has been called in Hackney Central ward for 21 July.

It follows the resignation of Sophie Linden, who has been approved as London’s deputy mayor for policing and crime, after being nominated by Sadiq Khan, the capital’s new mayor.

To vote in this by-election, you need to be on the electoral register for Hackney Central ward.

Those eligible to vote in the by-election will receive a polling card in the weeks prior to the election.

You do not need to take your polling card to the polling station or show any proof of ID.

You will need to tell polling staff your name and address.

They will then cross your name off their list and give you a ballot paper.

The deadline for candidates’ nominations is 24 June 2016.

Anyone who is not registered to vote can do so here (Link to Government website).
