Hackney Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is closed today due to a ‘major incident’ which took place inside the building yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the Mare Street bureau after windows were smashed and equipment was damaged.

Michael Foley, Advice Session Superviser at HCAB told the Hackney Citizen the bureau would reopen on Monday 24 November. He said: “A resident caused very serious damage to main windows, reception windows and other equipment.

“The Police had to be called and acted very quickly in subduing and arresting the person.

“Local Authority Contractors attended bureau all day today, and completed all necessary repairs and replacements very quickly.”

“We are very pleased to be able to say normal service will resume this Monday. HCAB shall continue to provide free, impartial, independent and confidential advice and support to all Hackney Residents. We thank residents for patience and understanding with this.”
