Charity WORLDbytes’ CLR James project wins £70,000 grant

A Homerton-based charity has won a £70,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Trust for London to produce a multimedia project documenting the life and intellectual legacy of the late CLR James.
WORLDbytes, which runs a citizens TV channel, will carry out research over two years into the life of the renowned black activist, after whom the CLR James Library in Dalston is named.

The project, dubbed “Every Cook Can Govern: Documenting the life, impact & works of CLR James”, will include a documentary series and an on-line ‘knowledge portal’, produced largely by volunteers.
