Man convicted for Hackney murder is on run after prison escape

Police are appealing for help in tracing a convicted murderer who escaped from HMP Pentonville yesterday.

John Massey, 64, made off from the Islington prison at around 6.30pm on Wednesday 27 June.

He is considered potentially dangerous and the police are are warning the public that he should not be approached if seen.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a man at a Hackney pub in September 1975.

With an immediate sighting of Massey, call 999.
