Clapton set for festival

clapton festival 2012 opening

Clapton is gearing up for a spectacular three-day festival later this month.

Promising to bigger and better than last year’s, the volunteer-led Clapton Festival will run from 15 – 17 June.

The main focus of events will be Clapton Square where there will be a series of local bands playing on Friday evening and a bouncy castle and face painting for kids on Saturday.

Dan Gritten, one of the festival’s organisers, said: “The original idea came out of the negative connotations of ‘Murder Mile’ and the negative press the area received.”

He added: “There’s so much culture and art happening in the area that never gets any press. We wanted to celebrate that.”
