East End Citizens Advice Bureau offers help to cash-strapped Hackney residents

Locals looking to make their money go further this month can gain skills, knowledge and confidence to make the right financial choices through free sessions at the East End Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) in Hackney.

Covering money management, understanding credit, banking, savings and how to deal with debt, the sessions are currently on offer to individuals and charitable organisations in the borough.

They aim to help people manage their money effectively and take responsibility for their own financial decisions, as well as giving them the means to challenge the status quo.

Depending on who needs help, the CAB can provide advice on:

1. Finding good deals and bargains

2. Customer rights and addressing financial traps

3. Value in contracts and making savings

4. Priority and non-priority debts.

The CAB hopes the sessions will build up local people’s confidence around money management and financial products, and that learners will also want to share their new skills and knowledge with friends, family and work colleagues.

Local organisations delivering front line services and individuals interested in learning how to manage their money better can register their interest by emailing info@eastendcab.org.uk or phoning 020 8525 6350.

The CAB is also developing a free budgeting tool that will be available to download from the CAB website in June later this year.
