The lost world of the Hackney coffee house

coffee house 001A talk on 18th century coffee houses in Hackney and the stories that were told in them takes place next month at Venetia’s Coffee Shop, Lower Clapton.

The evening includes readings of unpublished extracts from the diary of Dudley Ryder, womanising student and coffee enthusiast, who has been described as Hackney’s answer to Samuel Pepys. Coffee is provided.
