Coracle regatta, military parade and ceremonious burning – all in a WickED day’s work

boat-races-margaret-stone-copyright-webOne of last year’s most popular events, the coracle boat race is back, and equally enjoyable as a participant or spectator. Starting from 2pm, the coracle regatta will take place outside the Eaton Mission Boat House, 127 Wallis Road.

In sedate contrast, the canal will also be the setting for the competitive watercolour challenge, to be judged by artist Simon Ould.

Arrive prepared with paints, paper and other artistic aids, ready to capture the beauty of the 2012 Olympic fence and take home first prize. The watercolour challenge will take place from 3-5pm, beside the Canal on Wallis Road.

Adorned in military attire with flags, fife and toy planes, the Peanut Army will be marching down the canal from Old Ford Lock to Hackney Wick.

To join the parade, come suitably decorated and meet the Admiral of the Peanut Fleet, Marshal of the Peanut Air Force and Field Marshal of the Peanut Army on Dace Road at 3pm.

Last, but in no way least, the ceremonious burning of the Wicker Man will take place in a secret location at dusk. Not to be missed.
