Posters paying tribute to NHS staff and frontline workers have gone on display in Finsbury Park as a new street art campaign makes its first foray into London.

The free pop-up exhibition at The Arts Building on Morris Place is part of Posters for the People, the brainchild of Leeds-based street art curators In Good Company.

It features unique pieces with slogans such as ‘Our superheroes – we love you’, ‘We are one’, and ‘Frontline warriors’.

The artworks have been created by a range of artists, including Morag Myerscough, who grew up in Finsbury Park and still lives locally.

She said: “It’s a joy to see how the pop-up installation at the Arts Building is bringing the community together and paying tribute to our frontline workers.

“Being from the area, it’s particularly special to see this on the streets I grew up on, with my own work being used to thank our local heroes.”

Posters for the People began with billboard takeovers in Leeds and Manchester. The Finsbury Park pop-up is its first display in the capital.

Laura Wellington, founder of In Good Company, said the campaign was “inspired by the weekly applause and rainbow artworks popping up on pavements and in windows to support our amazing NHS and frontline workers”.

She added: “We want to create masses of fabulous billboards and posters in towns and cities across the country, as art should be for everyone.

“It’s been wonderful to work with U+I at The Arts Building in Finsbury Park and see the artworks come to life within the community. This is our first collaboration in London, but we hope there will be many more to come.”

Property developers U+I bought The Arts Building last year with plans to convert it into office and retail space.

Prints of the posters that feature in the campaign are available to purchase on the In Good Company website, with all profits being split between a number of charities, including St. Luke’s Hospice, The Blurt Foundation, Art Felt, The Trussell Trust and NHS Charities Together.
