Africa Utopia

Africa Utopia returns to Southbank Centre next month to celebrate the arts and culture of one of the world’s most dynamic and fast-changing continents. The four-day festival brings together live music, fashion, talks, workshops, performances and food from the African continent and the diaspora.

Headlining the festival in 2018 are Grammy-nominated husband and wife musical duo Amadou & Mariam, who play from their latest album, La Confusion, and Chineke! Orchestra who present an exhilarating, jazz-infused programme.

Also look forward to performances and talks from Geoffrey Dearmer Prize-winning poet Kayo Chingonyi, Barber Shop Chronicles playwright Inua Ellams, rising star novelist Michael Donkor and Mostly Lit podcast’s Derek Owusu at events Africa Utopia RAP Party and Pan-African Literary All-Stars.
