Two teenagers have been charged with assaulting a police officer following a bust-up over a bus fare in Dalston last Friday.

A teenage girl was found to not be carrying a valid ticket after being stopped on Kingsland High Street by police carrying out checks.

The row escalated when a friend of the girl reportedly called out to a nearby group of youngsters, who are then said to have attacked the officers.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that 18-year-old Izraa McIntosh, of Shrubland Road, and a 16-year-old girl were charged with assault on a police officer on 2 December.

McIntosh has been bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on 3 January 2018.

The girl has been bailed to appear at Stratford Youth Court on Tuesday 19 December.

A 15-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of fare evasion and assaulting a police officer has been bailed to return to Stoke Newington police station at a later date.
