Hackney Council says repair work on London Fields Lido has “taken longer than anticipated”.

The pool was originally scheduled to reopen in the summer after being shut in April to allow urgent repairs to be carried out.

The council then moved the reopening to “late summer” as it struggled to find a suitable contractor to do the work.

With the end of summer now approaching, the Town Hall’s community services chief Jon Burke said: “The works have taken longer than anticipated due to delays in removing the material beneath the pool tiles and digging out the slab in the changing rooms.

“We will be in a position to announce an opening date soon after some key elements of the refurbishment have been completed.”
