Frankenstein’s Bodies Today: Susie Orbach

Susie Orbach

Susie Orbach

Renowned psychotherapist, psychoanalyst, writer and social critic Susie Orbach will be giving the Richard Price Memorial lecture at Newington Green Unitarian Church on Wednesday 27 January.

Orbach’s first book, Fat is a Feminist Issue, was published in 1976. In the same year, she co-founded the The Women’s Therapy Centre.

For ten years she had a regular column in the Guardian newspaper on emotions in public and private life. These have been published in two volumes: What’s Really Going on Here and Towards Emotional Literacy. She still writes, and campaigns on many issues.

Orbach’s most recent book, Bodies, offers a critique of the beauty, diet, style and pharmaceutical industries as well as current thinking on the ‘obesity’ crisis.
